Welcome to day one of this year’s spring cleaning challenge. Each day, we’ll be sharing a very quick hack for a tidier home — plus a few other easy projects, and a very cute cleaning tool. First up, the kitchen sink. Plus:
Sanitizing your sink is a crucial step to eliminate potential foodborne illnesses and any lingering bacteria. Ideally, this happens every night, but constantly lugging out the bleach can be overwhelming — especially if you’ve just finished tackling a mountain of dishes. Today, your challenge is to pick a single day of the week when dishes tend to be minimal (after Friday pizza night, perhaps?), and commit to making that your designated sink-sanitizing night. Once a week of sanitizing is better than never. All it takes is a few minutes: spray a sanitizing solution, let it sit, and rinse or wipe it away. To keep your sponge smelling fresh and prevent mold and mildew, it’s important to increase airflow around it when it’s not in use. This lovely handmade concrete sponge holder has deep, wide grooves that allow your sponge to drain and dry with plenty of air circulation. The half-moon comes in several pretty colors to brighten up any sink — we’re personally big fans of the rainbow hue with jawbreaker vibes. Tomorrow we’ll be tackling your phone and other tech, which, we’re sorry to say, is grimier than you might think. See you then!
