Harlem Wizards...Thank you PTA!

Dear Haycock Families,

Many thanks to the Haycock PTA for supporting our author visit on Friday.  Carol Boston Weatherford (author) and Jeffrey Weatherford (illustrator) spoke to all our students. It was a powerful and inspiring presentation.

We had so much fun at the McLean Teachers vs. the Harlem Wizards basketball game on Saturday evening.  It was wonderful to see so many of our students and families cheering us on.  This event raised funds for our PTA, and most importantly it brought our McLean community together. 

Please be on the lookout for the FCPS Family Engagement Survey. The survey window is March 9 through March 23. Parents/caregivers should have received an email invitation with a unique survey link from FCPS today. The subject line is: FCPS Family Engagement Survey.  For more information, see below. 

Additionally, you should be receiving an email from Haycock that asks you to confirm your plans for your child(ren) for the March 18 three hour early release Wednesday.  These early release Wednesdays give our staff members valuable time for professional development and learning. We ask that you do not make last minute changes to your plans for your child on March 18. We want to ensure that all students are safely getting home according to communicated parent requests and last minute changes make that more challenging. 

Congratulations to our many 6th grade students who presented their National History Day (NHD) projects at the district competition on Saturday.  All our 6th grade students completed an NHD research project and are now experts on a specific historical event of their choice.  We are super proud of all our 6th graders! 

We hope to see you at Wednesday's PTA Heritage Night from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
