Please be aware of fraudulent messages related to application fees due
The City of Fairfax has become aware of e-mail phishing attempts that impersonate city staff and request additional fee payments for applications processing through the city’s development approval process. These messages can contain detailed information pulled from public records about the type and location of the application, and may indicate that an approval is pending contingent on the wiring of an additional fee.
The City of Fairfax will never send messages of this nature. Should you receive an e-mail or any other communication that you feel may not be legitimate, please contact the Department of Community Development & Planning at 703-385-7820 to verify the communication or the City of Fairfax Police Department at 703-385-7924.
