Science SOL (Grade 5) - Thursday, May 14th

FCPS encourages all families to support their students in taking these tests. Virginia requires schools to test at least 95% of students on SOLs, so when families choose not to participate in testing, it can impact a school’s accreditation, accountability ratings, and ability to measure student progress accurately.

Parents and caregivers can help their children perform their best on these tests by reminding them to get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and the cell phone policy still applies during testing season.

Earth Week!

Earth Day is April 22, and we’re turning it into a week-long celebration! Students will enjoy special activities at school, and families can join the fun at home using our BINGO board (available in English and Spanish). Show your school spirit all week long by dressing to match our daily themes:

Thursday, April 23: wear red for Climate Day

Friday, April 24: wear blue for Watershed Day

Student Intention Form

Please complete this google form for each of your children currently attending Oak Hill ES in the 2025-2026 school year.  Sixth grade parents should reply no and indicate Carson, Franklin or whatever middle school your child will attend.

This will let us know your plans for next year and  will help us plan appropriate staffing for next year.  It is not binding, so if your plans change after you fill it out, just contact the school and let us know. Thank you for filling out the form by Friday, April 24th!

Bake For Good

Bake for Good /Header

The OHES Student POG Patrol is proud to bring an exciting opportunity for our 4th, 5th and 6th grade students and families. These students will have a virtual assembly on Thursday, April 23rd with King Arthur’s Baking Company. This outreach program allows students to learn, bake, and share their baked goods as an act of kindness using the power of baking to make a difference. Students will learn that combining math, science, reading, and baking know-how, adds up to delicious bread! What a great opportunity this will be to practice all those amazing Portrait of a Graduate skills we have been learning!

Students will receive a Baking Kit which includes two bags of King Arthur flour, a Bake For Good recipe booklet, Red Star Yeast, a KABC dough scraper and a bread donation bag. With their new baking skills, and your support, your student will bake this recipe with confidence. After baking two loaves of bread or rolls, they will share half of their baked goods (one loaf or some rolls) with a neighbor or someone in the community.

Please visit KingArthurBaking.com/BakeForGood to learn more about Bake for Good and find helpful videos and tips for baking at home.

We can’t wait to hear all about your experiences making and sharing bread with others!

Lost and Found- Please Check

Items left after April 30th will be donated.

As we are moving into spring, please check to make sure your child's winter jackets are in your closets and not in the lost and found!  Our lost and found is overflowing with winter jackets and LOTS of sweatshirts!  We will be donating what is left at the end of April, so please come in and check.

Before we donate, we do check for names, so please consider putting your child's name or initials on an inside label of their sweatshirts and jackets.  We donate many articles of clothing each year because they are not labeled.
