There’s a good chance you won’t find Governor Dan McKee and his main Democratic primary challenger Helena Foulkes drinking wine and watching “The Real Housewives of Rhode Island” together.
The two political rivals are gearing up for what is likely to be a bitter, bruising race all summer that is sure to divide Democrats across the state.
But where do they actually stand on the issues most important to Rhode Island?
My colleague Ed Fitzpatrick asked them each the same questions for the Rhode Island Report podcast. You don’t want to miss it.
It's essentially their first debate, and you can listen to it (and read about it) right now by clicking here or subscribe via Apple or
Spotify.
🤔 So you think you're a Rhode Islander...
Can you name the Rhode Island governor who received 8 votes to be the Republican Party's nominee for vice president in 1896?
(Answer at the bottom.)
Do you have the perfect question for Rhode Map readers? Don't forget to send the answer, too. Send me an email today.

⚓ The social media post by the Department of Homeland Security Tuesday night seemed to come out of left field: an idyllic image of Fenway Park at sunset under the words “Worth Fighting For.” But given the aggressive immigration enforcement tactics under President Trump, and the department’s recent history of posting memes of gauzy American images and references popular with white supremacists, those were fighting words for many New Englanders — especially Red Sox fans.
