Consume Less this Earth Day with Transportation Resources You Already Have

Today is Earth Day, and we want to give you three easy ways to meet your transportation sustainability goals by consuming less and using goods you already have.

Map App

Your Phone

Just by opening your map app, you're already halfway to getting around more sustainably.

  • Your favorite navigation app has directions for getting around by walking, biking or bus.
  • Keep a digital SmarTrip card on your iPhone or Android phone or watch to board ART, Metrobus, and Metrorail, so you're always ready to ride.
  • Download the CaBi app to check out bikes for short trips when you need a zero emissions trip.

Your Local Bus or Bikeshare

Yes, you read that right! You have many ART and Metro buses and Capital Bikeshare bikesavailable to you that are already running and in service if you're not looking to get getting new wheels of your own.

For example, you can hop on a Capital Bikeshare bike to go to the library, then take the bus back home with your borrowed media.

Your Friends and Neighbors

There's no better person to ask about making the switch to sustainable transportation than someone who's already done it!

Ask a friend to join you on a walk or bus ride to a destination you enjoy and explore the sustainable transportation options you already have at hand.
