| Hot stretch expected this week in Massachusetts |
A beautiful start to the week with plenty of sunshine and comfortable temperatures. Most inland communities will reach the upper 70s to around 80 degrees, a few degrees warmer than the normal high of 73. Humidity remains low, making for a great day to get outside whether for exercise, work or sneaking out during your lunch break to enjoy some sun. Temperatures surge beginning bringing in a summer feel by Tuesday but a warmup continues through the rest of the week. Temperatures climb into the 80s Tuesday before many locations push into the upper 80s and lower 90s from Wednesday into next weekend. Along with the heat, humidity levels will gradually increase, making it feel even more like the middle of summer. While much of the week looks dry, there will be opportunities for scattered showers and thunderstorms later in the week and into the weekend. We need the rain as Boston, North Shore and Seacoast are in a severe drought. Believe it or not, Boston has seen the lowest year to date accumulating precipitation on record. As the rain deficit grows, we don’t have much relief with a soaking rain over the next 10 days. |

| Israel and Iran trade strikes, threatening to drag region back to full-scale war |
Israel and Iran traded fire early Monday in retaliatory strikes that threatened to drag the Middle East back into a full-scale regional war, while Yemen’s Houthi rebels also fired at Israel and warned they would target Israel-affiliated ships in the Red Sea, further escalating tension. Israel launched strikes on central and western Iran early Monday in response to missile fire from Tehran, and Iran retaliated with waves of attacks. It was the first exchange of fire since an April 8 ceasefire was reached. Explosions could be heard in central Israel as air defenses sought to intercept incoming Iranian fire. Sirens also sounded across neighboring Jordan. Iran warned that the United States would be responsible for any escalation. |

| 19-year-old driver charged with OUI after crashing into Lynnfield restaurant |
A 19-year-old was allegedly driving under the influence when his car slammed straight into a restaurant overnight in Lynnfield, Massachusetts, taking out the wall and the water lines — missing the gas line by inches. Massachusetts State Police say it all started as troopers, who were patrolling in the area of Route 1 to address the number of recent dangerous driving incidents, saw a vehicle operating erratically on Route 1 north around 1:29 a.m. Sunday. The suspect vehicle failed to stop when signaled, according to police, and then exited the highway using the Salem Street ramp. Moments later, that vehicle crashed into the side of the building located at 618 Salem Street — the listed address for School Street Foods. |

A 43-year-old was pulled from the water in Southborough, Massachusetts, on Sunday, several hours after a bystander reported that a kayak had flipped over and the person never resurfaced. Southborough police and mutual aid partners, including divers and drones from the Westborough Fire Department and Massachusetts State Police, responded to the reported drowning in Crystal Pond around 4:25 p.m. Dive teams ultimately found the Framingham resident’s body around 7:24 p.m., according to police, which was about three hours after the fisherman was seen going under the water by the bystander on the shore off Crystal Pond Road. |
