BPC-157 heals injuries fast but the neurological effects are the more interesting story
- It seems to work by hitting the gas pedal on multiple healing pathways at once: more blood vessel formation, cell migration, nitric oxide modulation, and increased growth hormone receptor density on damaged tendons
- The neurological effects almost nobody talks about: they made mice drunk, gave them BPC-157, and the mice were noticeably less intoxicated. They also eliminated fatal alcohol withdrawal symptoms in animal models.
- People taking oral BPC-157 report their Adderall stops working. Reddit is full of anhedonia and flat affect reports, consistent with it blunting dopamine signaling peaks.
BPC-157 promotes blood vessel growth, which is exactly how tumors spread
- BPC-157 upregulates VEGF, which promotes new blood vessel formation, the exact same mechanism tumors use to grow and spread
- Huberman specifically avoids BPC-157 when not injured because he doesn't want to risk vascularizing a tumor he doesn't know he has
- That said, there is zero signal in the animal literature of it actually causing tumors, and in a melanoma cell line model it actually decreased VEGF. Almost all the data, promising and safety alike, comes from the same one Croatian research group.

- Pinealon was discovered by Soviet researcher Dr. Vladimir Cavinson, whose original mission was making soldiers and astronauts function better after the extreme physiological aging that happens in submarines and space
- Huberman takes it three times per month maximum and reports it nearly doubles his REM in the final hours of sleep, with the effect lingering for weeks after he stops
