Monday, June 8, 2026

Dear Lancer Families:

Last week we had our final chorus concert, Career Day, and music field trip. We also held our final PTA meeting of the year. Thank you to all who came out to that meeting as we discussed plans for parent engagement in the upcoming school year. We are excited to close out the school year with several events that recognize our students' hard work, growth, and accomplishments including our final band concert, AP boot camp, 8th grade party, field day, and our end of year awards.

For your planning purposes, student laptops will be collected on Monday, June 15th during PE classes. Please be sure your student returns their laptop and charger that day so your family is not charged for missing items. Students will not be able to check out a laptop and charger next year until they have returned or paid for these items.

Finally, the last day of school will be a two hour early release day. Please ensure your student has a dismissal plan to be picked up two hours early that day as there are no after school activities. We also are not allowing backpacks at school on the final day. Students should bring home things they no longer need at school starting on Wednesday, June 10th when we do our locker clean out day.

As always, I appreciate your support and encourage you to stay connected through our website and weekly newsletter. I hope you and your family have a great week ahead.

Calendar Survey

FCPS values your input as we plan future school calendars. On Friday, June 5, all caregivers and FCPS staff received an email from noreply@fcps.edu containing a unique link to complete the FCPS Calendar Survey.

Your feedback matters. Please take a few minutes to share your priorities and perspectives by Monday, June 22, at 11:59 p.m.

Your individual responses will be kept confidential and will not be shared with school staff or used in any way that identifies you or your student. Only aggregate, summary-level results will be reported to the Fairfax County School Board.

If you do not receive a link to the survey or have technical difficulties completing the survey, please contact the FCPS Office of Research and Program Evaluation.

Registering families will be required to provide insurance information, if applicable, but students without insurance may still participate.

Visit the FCPS and Inspire Health Alliance Student Immunization Events webpage for dates, times, and locations. Additional event dates will be shared four to five weeks prior to the event and posted on the webpage. Additional immunization resources are also available.

Please Check Your Student’s Lunch Balance

It’s a busy time of year, and we know many priorities are on your plate. As we approach the end of the school year, it is important to check your student’s MySchoolBucks account and pay any remaining school meal balance.

Free and Reduced-Price Meals

Families who earn less than 185% of the poverty level qualify for free and reduced-price meals (FRM). However, an application must be completed and submitted each school year to receive that benefit. The application for the 2026-27 school year will be available this summer.

If you have a current balance and think you may be eligible for free and reduced-price meals, please fill out the FRM application for the 2025-26 school year.
