Last night, taking a break from posting about rigged elections, Donald Trump urged calm in the Middle East. Israel had bombed Lebanon’s capital, defying Mr Trump’s instructions. Iran had retaliated; Israel, defying the American president again, responded with ballistic missiles. All this leaves Mr Trump with a growing dilemma.
