OpenAI has filed for an initial public offering of stock, a week after its rival Anthropic did the same. The artificial intelligence startup did not reveal timing but said “it may be a while because there are things we want to do that are likely easier as a private company.” OpenAI’s valuation soared to $852 billion in March after raising a fresh $122 billion in cash to fuel its ever-expanding ambitions in AI. Regardless of when OpenAI and Anthropic decide to begin trading this year, they will be the second and third IPOs to follow SpaceX’s trillion-dollar offering, which is set for Friday. |
