Yeah I finally got around to trying that trail you mentioned last weekend. The elevation gain was no joke but the view from the summit was completely worth it. We started right at sunrise so the light was soft and the crowds hadn't shown up yet. There was this one section where the path winds through a grove of old oak trees and the canopy was so thick it felt like a tunnel. I packed way too much water but better safe than sorry.

My dog absolutely loved it. She was off-leash for most of the steeper parts because it was easier for her to scramble. There's a creek about two-thirds of the way up that was running pretty strong for this time of year so we stopped there for a break. I ended up taking about thirty photos even though I told myself I was just going to enjoy the moment. The wildflowers were still hanging on in patches which surprised me.

If you go again bring an extra layer for the top because the wind picks up once you clear the tree line. We stayed up there for maybe an hour just watching the hawks circle. I think next time I'll bring a proper lunch instead of just granola bars. Let me know if you want to join for the next one.

Oh I finally watched that documentary you recommended last night. I had to pause it twice just to process some of the footage because it was so beautifully shot. The cinematography alone made it worth the watch but the storytelling was on another level. I kept thinking about it long after the credits rolled.

My favorite part was the segment about the restoration project. The way they walked through the whole process step by step really pulled me in. I ended up texting my cousin about it because she studied something similar in college. She said she had seen it twice already and noticed different details the second time.

I tried watching it on my laptop but switched to the living room TV about twenty minutes in because it deserved the bigger screen. The score was really understated too which I appreciated. A lot of docs overdo the music but this one let the visuals breathe. Anyway let me know if you have any other recommendations in that vein. I have a long drive coming up and I am loading up my watch list.
