Today: The biggest feature coming to iPhones this fall. Plus …

Siri is about to become an AI assistant

Four iPhones are displayed on a tan surface, showing their backs. The phones, a white Apple iPhone 16e, a purple iPhone 17, a dark blue iPhone 17 Pro, and an orange iPhone 17 Pro Max, have different camera arrays.

Your iPhone contains your entire life, yet Siri has never been able to use all of that information when you need it. That’s about to change. Today, the company announced that Siri is turning into an AI assistant (akin to ChatGPT or Claude) that can use everything on your device to answer questions and complete tasks on your behalf.

When it launches this fall, the revamped Siri will purportedly be smart enough to proofread text, dig through your inbox for flight confirmations, find tickets to local events, and more. “While it remains to be seen how Siri’s advanced features will live up to its claims in the real world,” tech expert Brenda Stolyar says, today’s keynote demos looked promising.
