The mess is creating a massive distraction for Ellison at a time when he is trying to close a $110 billion deal to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery. Pelley's firing is just the latest in a string of PR disasters for Weiss at CBS News. The veteran correspondent's refusal to go quietly culminated in his call for Weiss to be removed from her post atop the journalistic institution. “We need adult supervision and at the moment we don’t have it,” he said in an explosive video interview with The New York Times.
