Fall into Books

Debut manga creators, New Yorker cartoonists, and new books by Joe Sacco and James Tynion IV are among the highlights of the comics and graphic novel releases coming this fall season, according to our editors. Haruki Murakami will publish a new memoir, a book-length version of a 2019 New Yorker essay, with Knopf in October. Apple TV has preempted rights to Fourth Wing author Rebecca Yarros’s upcoming romance novel Peculiar Stars, with plans to adapt it as a TV series, reports Deadline. In the U.K., Jessica Kingsley Publishers has started offering “safety jackets” intended to help protect people reading books with LGBTQ+ content in public, per the Bookseller. And the works of Homer continue to fly off the shelves, with two different editions of The Odyssey, plus The Iliad, appearing on the Independent Publishers Caucus’s Top 40 fiction bestsellers list.
