This week, the County Board approved the Fiscal Year 2027 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). Prepared every 2 years, the CIP is the County’s 10-year plan for building, maintaining, upgrading or replacing County facilities and infrastructure. The upcoming Arlington County Fair invites fair goers to participate in Competitive Exhibits to showcase artistic works, agricultural achievements, and culinary creations. But before you compete for a ribbon, you have to register.

A Morning to Remember

Dark Star Park is Arlington’s first County-commissioned public artwork. On August 1, beginning at 9 a.m., visitors can gather at the 0.4 acre park to witness a shadow alignment that only happens once a year.

• Weigh in on proposed impervious area limits for individual lots in residential neighborhoods through a feedback form and/or at an upcoming event.

• Early Voting for the August 4, 2026 Dual Primary Election is available at three locations: Courthouse Plaza, Langston-Brown Community Center, and Walter Reed Community Center. All Arlington voters may vote early at any site.
  
  
• Another one. Arlington County is once again ranked among the top digital counties in the country for 2026.
  
  
• The Arlington County Police Department invites local neighborhoods to join communities nationwide in attending National Night. Out (NNO). Register your event by July 24.
  
  
• Breaking ground. The County will begin construction on the Woodmont Park Playground Renovation the week of August 3.
  
  
• Tech enthusiasts are invited to the NOVA Code and Coffee event on July 25. Guests of all skill levels are welcome to bring a laptop and collab with attendees.
