The man fatally shot by a police officer in Madison, Wisconsin, this week has been identified as Corey Ruiz, officials said during a news conference.

Madison Police Chief John Patterson described the case as “an open and active homicide investigation” and said officials will release the name of the officer who fired his weapon. Protests and demands for accountability are increasing in the city.
