The Alzheimer’s field was thrilled with Biogen’s diranersen trial, which showed the drug reduced brain buildup of tau and slowed cognitive decline. “This is the start of the tau race,” one neurologist told Ryan Cross. But as he reports, experts couldn’t explain why lower, less frequent dosing proved more effective — and the path forward remains murky.
