The Library of Congress has over 19,000 Yiddish-language materials and about 2,500 uncatalogued Yiddish books and pamphlets. This makes it one of the largest Yiddish collections in the world. These books, published across the Jewish diaspora, cover all imaginable subjects. Many are not available in other American libraries or anywhere else. This blog post will present a broad overview of the Library’s Yiddish collection as well as some highlights that emphasize their value to researchers and those interested in Jewish culture and history.
