Christopher Anne Affleck, mother of actors Ben and Casey Affleck, died in June after a monthslong battle with a terminal illness, the family announced July 23. She was 83. Affleck, a civil rights organizer and teacher, received her diagnosis in December 2025 and was given six months to live, according to her obituary in The Boston Globe. She passed just after being able to witness one of her biggest ambitions, according to the family. “Her greatest wish after her diagnosis, however, was to live to see her grandson graduate high school,” the family wrote in the obituary. “She did so, attending with her family on May 31, 2026. Los Angeles prosecutors Thursday continued to connect the dots between forensic evidence and singer D4vd to demonstrate that there’s enough proof to put him on trial for the murder of 14-year-old Celeste Rivas Hernandez. One day after alleging the singer, born David Burke, killed Rivas Hernandez to prevent her from exposing their illegal relationship and protect his lucrative career, prosecutors on Thursday presented more evidence against Burke. Criminalist Lisa LaHendro with the LAPD took the stand Thursday morning, explaining what she saw and analyzed from a blue inflatable pool found in the garage of Burke’s rented home in Hollywood Hills. |

She was scared, sure. But more than that, she was brought to tears. “I thought I’d be a bit more petrified, but I was enamored. I was in awe. It was witnessing nature,” she says. “You can’t put it into words the emotions and the feelings that you experience.” |

| Chadwick Boseman's brothers seek to remove his widow from control of late actor's estate |
Chadwick Boseman’s brothers filed a petition last week seeking control of the late actor’s estate, accusing their brother’s widow of mismanagement and failing to distribute the assets. The court filing from Derrick and Kevin Boseman says that since their brother did not leave a will, his widow, Taylor Simone Ledward, inherited half of his estate while his parents were given an even split of the other half. But it was Ledward who was appointed administrator of the estate. Leroy and Carolyn Boseman, the late actor’s parents, assigned the brothers to handle their interests in the estate and allowed them to file the petition against Ledward. Chadwick Boseman and Ledward did not have any children together. |
