As of September 7, the cyanobacteria bloom is present from Stony Point, MI to Magee Marsh Wildlife Area, OH. The bloom extends into the western basin towards West Sister Island Wildlife Refuge, OH. The highest cyanobacteria concentrations and greatest potential for scum are around Maumee Bay.
This bulletin provides a summary and forecast of the Microcystis harmful algal blooms (HABs) in western Lake Erie. Updates will be e-mailed to subscribers with important information regarding bloom status and significant features.
