Learn about Potential Updates to Zoning Regulations for Specific Uses in Commercial and Industrial Districts
Community members are invited to share their feedback on the first part of proposed changes to modernize zoning regulations for the county’s commercial and industrial districts. Specifically, Fairfax County is exploring potential changes to the following five uses -- associated service uses, food trucks, recycling centers, specialized instruction centers, and vehicle sales. Virtual meetings will be held on October 5 and 7 to discuss the proposed changes.
Save the date to join one of the following community meetings:
- Monday, October 5, 2026, at 7:00 p.m.
- Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at 12:00 p.m.
Note: Both meetings will cover the same content. No registration is required.
As directed by the Board of Supervisors in its Zoning Ordinance work program, county staff has begun researching potential changes to the Zoning Ordinance that would revise the current regulations for the above-mentioned five specific uses. These revisions may include changes to the definitions, permissions, and use standards. Additional project information and meeting details are available on the project webpage.
Public hearings on this Zoning Ordinance amendment have not been scheduled.
If you cannot attend the meetings, recordings will be available afterwards. If you have any questions or comments, email lily.yegazu@fairfaxcounty.gov or call 703-324-1314.
