Come Experience New EnChroma Glasses

Ellanor C. Lawrence Park now has free EnChroma glasses for visitors who have trouble seeing colors. These glasses help flowers, butterflies, and trees look brighter and easier to tell apart.

EnChroma glasses are:

• Available during Visitor Center hours
• Free to use on a first-come, first served basis
• For use during your time at the park

A small number of glasses can be reserved in advance. To reserve a pair call the Visitor Center at 703-631-0013 or email FCPAECLawrence@fairfaxcounty.gov.

Survey for Teens and Young Adults with Disabilities

Speak up, be heard, and help make Fairfax County's community centers and their variety of free activities even better! Neighborhood and Community Services is surveying teens and young adults with disabilities to learn what they like, need, and want from these centers. They also want to know what makes it hard for you to join, like challenges with transportation, scheduling, or other barriers. Your ideas help create better, more inclusive programs for people of all abilities. The survey ends Wednesday, September 30.

100% Covered Bus Fares with TRIP100

Fairfax Connector has launched TRIP100, a new program that lets some Fairfax County residents ride for free. The program is paid for with help from the Virginia Department of Rail and Public Transportation and replaces the old TRIP program. TRIP100 provides low-income residents and those in need with the ability to get to work, appointments, and other daily activities. Residents qualify for TRIP100 if they: Are a registered MetroAccess user Receive Supplemental Security Income or Social Security Disability Insurance Receive assistance services and have a caseworker through Fairfax County Meet specific age and income requirements Visit the TRIP100 website to learn more.

Opportunity to Advocate for People with Physical and Sensory Disabilities

You can help advocate for people with physical and sensory disabilities by joining the Fairfax Area Disability Services Board (FA-DSB), a group of 15 volunteers who work to improve local services. If you’ve lived with disabilities or have experience using social services, your insight is invaluable for creating fairer, more effective programs. You’re welcome to apply if you receive public assistance like SNAP or Medicaid, but you cannot work for the Department of Family Services. Contact your local Board of Supervisors representative to apply.
