A Message from the PTA President
Dear Sangster Families,
What a wonderful start to the school year! It has been great seeing our students settling into their routines and our families reconnecting at school and PTA events. Thank you to everyone who has already joined the PTA, volunteered, attended an event, or simply stopped to say hello. It really does take all of us to make Sangster the special community that it is.
Join Us for Our First PTA Meeting – September 22
Our first PTA meeting of the school year will be held on Tuesday, September 22, and everyone is welcome to attend!
Our PTA meetings are a great way to stay informed about what is happening at Sangster, hear updates about upcoming programs and events, learn more about the work of the PTA, and find out what is happening across our school community.
You do not need to be a PTA officer or regular volunteer to attend. Whether you want to get involved, have an idea to share, or simply want to listen and learn more about what is happening at Sangster, we would love to have you there.

A Reminder About Pedestrian Safety
With hundreds of children and families arriving and leaving school each day, please help us keep everyone safe around Sangster.
Please do not make U-turns on Reservation Drive during arrival and dismissal, and be especially cautious around our crosswalks, Kiss & Ride, buses, and areas where children are walking. A few extra seconds of patience can make an enormous difference when young children are crossing nearby.
We have also had a few instances already this school year when we have unexpectedly been without a crossing guard. When that happens, it is especially important for drivers to slow down, stay alert, and watch carefully for students and families crossing the street.
Please talk with your children about looking both ways, making eye contact with drivers before crossing, and never assuming a vehicle will stop. And for those of us behind the wheel, let's remember that there are lots of little feet walking to and from Sangster every day.
Keeping our children safe is something we can all do together.

There is so much to look forward to this fall! Keep an eye on PTA communications for upcoming events, volunteer opportunities, and ways to get involved. Whether you have five minutes, an hour, or simply want to support the PTA through your membership, there is a place for you in our Sangster community.

We are always looking for volunteers! Please take the time to complete the FCPS Volunteer Screening and fill out the Google Volunteer form so that we can add you to our email distribution list.
Sangster Administration has a need for library volunteers and cafe volunteers as well as occasional opportunities like picture day, field day, etc. Please complete the FCPS Volunteer screening to be considered for these events. Opportunities go out to the email list and also get posted to Facebook.

You are invited to join the unofficial Facebook group for the Sangster community, Sangster Parents. Please note that anyone who requests to join, including someone added by an existing group member, must answer the membership questions and check the box indicating agreement to abide by the group rules. If your membership has not been approved, this is likely why; check your Facebook messages (you may have to dig around for the section for messages from non-friends) for assistance from an admin.
