Nominate your colleagues for the Annual Awards!
Celebrate all the hard work being done in the domestic and sexual violence community with our Annual Awards, which will be given out during the Annual Meeting on Friday, Oct. 16, 2026! Please consider nominating not just coworkers and teammates, but partners and colleagues!
Please provide examples of the ways in which nominees go above and beyond in their work to give context to the nominations panel during the selection process.
The deadline for nominations is Wednesday, September 23, at 5 p.m. Don’t wait to submit your nominations!
Award categories and criteria:

Honors a service professional which includes advocates, mental health professionals, providers for those who cause harm, attorneys, medical personnel, judges, court personnel, law enforcement, or system-wide worker (macro level DV/SV worker who does not carry a caseload). The Service Professional of Excellence goes above and beyond in their work responding and providing services to adults or children impacted by domestic violence or sexual violence.
Guiding questions for nominations:
- Give at least two specific examples of how the service professional has gone above and beyond to serve clients affected by interpersonal violence.
- How has the service professional made an impact in working to prevent and end DV and/or SV?
- How has their work influenced attitudes, policies, and practices within their agency or across systems?

Honors a team, unit, organization, or multi-disciplinary group of individuals working across systems with regards to an issue related to domestic or sexual violence. This group can be an established team or unit within an organization, or a group that is working together on a short or long-term basis to address issues related to domestic and sexual violence.
Guiding questions for nominations:
- How has the team made an impact on individuals and families impacted by DV or SV?
- How has the team made an impact on service professionals across Fairfax County?
- How has their work influenced attitudes, policies, and practices within their agency or across systems?

A community member, business professional, or community group that does not work directly in domestic or sexual violence services but has made a meaningful contribution to this cause. This person might also be someone in the media or a politician. This ally may have volunteered time, changed their business practices, or dedicated their skills, resources, and influence to support projects, programs, or efforts that raise awareness, or advance safety, healing, and justice for survivors.
Guiding questions for nominations:
- How has the community member made an impact on individuals and families impacted How has the community member/group made an impact on individuals and families impacted by DV or SV?
- How has the community member/group made an impact on service professionals across Fairfax County?
- How has their work raised awareness, contributed time and talent towards programs or efforts, or influenced attitudes, policies, and practices within their agency or across systems?
DV Community Vanguard Award:
This award is for someone who has been at the forefront of our community’s efforts to change the landscape of the domestic and sexual violence community. They have transformed the response to the needs of individuals, families, and communities impacted by domestic or sexual violence. This person has spent their career working to end violence in our community and is likely nearing retirement or is going to be leaving the community.
