Welcome to the Skyview Pyramid & Region 1, Oak Hill!

With the opening of Skyview High School, FCPS is implementing several changes to school pyramid and region assignments effective Monday, September 14. As a result, a new Skyview Pyramid has been formed and is now part of Region 1.

The pyramid includes Skyview High School, Carson Middle School, and Coates, Floris, McNair, McNair Upper, and Oak Hill elementary schools.

Please keep in mind that these changes are administrative only. They do not impact school boundaries, instruction, or supports available to students and families. We are sharing this information in case you require support at the region level in the future.

Last Call! Asha-Jyothi Annual 5K and 1 mile Fun Run- 9/20 @ Fairfax Corner

Asha-Jyothi will donate 100 % of the registration fees back to our school, along with an incentive. $500 for 25+ registrations, $1000 for 50+ registrations, etc.

Registration includes an AJ t=shirt, medals for the kids, food and music.

Safety Reminders

The safety of our students and families during arrival and dismissal is critical. Please review these important reminders:

Use designated crosswalks at all times. Do not cross the Kiss & Ride line or Kinross Circle where there is not a crosswalk.
Have children enter and exit from the sidewalk side of the vehicle.
Follow the Kiss & Ride traffic pattern and do not turn left across the line of traffic. If the line extends beyond the pool or toward the crossing guard/stop sign, please wait patiently and follow staff directions.
Walk bikes and scooters while on school property during arrival and dismissal.

Please model these safety practices for your children. Students, older siblings, and adults all contribute to a safe arrival and dismissal. We appreciate your patience, attention, and partnership in keeping Oak Hill safe.

Reporting Discrimination or Harassment

FCPS is committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for people of all races, national origins, and ethnicities. Individuals experiencing harassment or discrimination should report the incident as soon as possible.

Health Room Volunteers needed

The Oak Hill Health Room is looking for volunteers to help with Vision and Hearing Screening on October 7^th and 8^th from 9:00-12:30. Each year we screen every Kindergarten and 3rd grade student. If you can spare a couple of hours to help, it would be greatly appreciated. Please contact Juliana Rampersad at jtrampersad@fcps.edu to sign up.

Library Volunteer Opportunity!

The Oak Hill Library is looking for adult volunteers to support the library. Volunteers typically welcome students, shelve books (fiction/nonfiction), use alphabetical skills/Dewey Decimal ordering skills, check books in/out, laminate/cut items for teachers, bulletin board setup, etc.

If interested, please fill out this Google Form. If selected to volunteer, you will need to also register in our volunteer system.

Note: there may be more interest than there are available volunteer spaces. Thank you for understanding!

AAP Informational Meetings

Please mark your calendars for Monday, September 28th from 9:15-10:15 for an AAP information meeting (in person). Doors will open at 9:00 to allow time for signing in on the Visitor Management system. The presentation will start promptly at 9:15.

Mrs. Lahr, our Advanced Academics Resource Teacher, will discuss the continuum of Advanced Academics services offered in Fairfax County Public Schools. Please RSVP here if you wish to attend the presentation on September 28th.This presentation is open to all families in grades K-6.

Families of Full-Time students do not need to attend unless they wish to learn more about the other levels of AAP services available in FCPS. Please note this presentation will NOT cover how to apply for Full-Time Services.

The Full-Time AAP presentation will occur on October 27th. More information to come.
