PTSA Meeting Recap
Wonderful to see everyone at our meeting on Wednesday.
Principal Dr. Ben Nowak recapped a strong start to the school year, Teacher/Staff liaison John Bertha provided updates from FCHS, and student liaisons shared some insights. PTSA welcomed Sri Appana to board as the VP of Programs. We're excited to get started on our year-long plans and look forward to volunteers to lead some of the larger initiatives. Finally, our "FCHS 101" presentation for new and returning parents covered information about FCHS and our community.

Jaguar Pantry News
Thank you for a great Food For Neighbors (FFN) Red Bag collection day this past Saturday!
It was our first of the 2026-27 school year. It’s always so wonderful to be part of a community that comes together to donate food, collect that food, sort all the food, and then transport it to our off site pantry space and unload and organize it. Thanks to everyone involved!!
Big shoutout to our FCHS students and parents that helped unload the food at our pantry space. Our team was small in numbers but mighty in strength!

If you would like to become a Red Bag Donor and start donating a bag of groceries for the next Red Bag event on October 24, 2026, please sign up today. Food For Neighbors Red Bag Program. Your donations to this program are distributed directly to our Jag Pantry along with six other schools to help support our students and their families in the community.
We will start back up our distribution of weekend packs to students at FCHS this week! Thanks to our generous donors we are able to provide weekend packs for at least 100 students each weekend to help bridge the gap from Friday to Monday.

PTSA Student Liaison Opportunity
Each year PTSA looks for 2-5 students from each class to serve as PTSA Student Liaisons. These students are a voice for student concerns, needs, and suggestions to the PTSA and school administration. The main responsibility for this role is to be an active participant at PTSA meetings and share your opinions when asked. We encourage the Liaisons to participate in PTSA programs and activities, and even develop ideas for new programs or ideas for the school community as a team. If interested, have your student complete this interest form link.

FCHS College & Career Corner
We are excited to announce the first annual FCHS College Fair for 11th and 12th graders on Monday, October 5 8:45-10:00am in the Main Gym. We will host 65 colleges/universities!
We will also be hosting individual college rep visits:
- 9/17- VT 8:30am
- 9/22- Boston University 9:00am
- 9/25- UVA 11:00am
- 9/29- GMU 9:45 am
- 9/30- VCU 1:30pm
- 10/2- William & Mary 10:15am
- 10/13- Northwestern 1:30pm
- 10/15- JMU 8:30am
- 10/21- University of the District of Columbia 9:00am
*Students must register no later than two days (48 hours) prior to the college fair and/or individual college rep visits.
**Only juniors/seniors may attend the college fair and/or college rep visits.
Parents are encouraged to sign up for Ms. Markwart's weekly College & Career Corner newsletter. It contains information on important dates, scholarships, volunteer, internship, and networking opportunities. The newsletter is sent via NAVIANCE and parents will need a SIS ParentVUE account in order to receive the newsletter.
Picture Days
Underclassmen (9th, 10th, & 11th graders) pictures will be taken during the school day with their English classes.
